Scientific study reveals the Neural Mechanics of Self Affirmation

REsearch shows that positive thinking can rewire your brain… changing the way you feel about things.

You may choose to use positive affirmations to motivate yourself, encourage positive changes in your life, or boost your self-esteem.

If you frequently find yourself getting caught up in negative self-talk, positive affirmations can be used to combat these often subconscious patterns and replace them with more adaptive narratives.

Science based yes, not woowoo Magic. Positive affirmations require regular practice if you want to make lasting, long-term changes to the ways that you think and feel. The good news is that the practice and popularity of positive affirmations are based on widely accepted and well-established psychological theory. A thought invokes an emotion.

The emotion strengthens the thought.

The thought gets intensified and hence, intensifies the emotion.

In this manner, this becomes a cyclic process.

The emotion of attachment to goals and dreams intensifies with each cycle of thoughts.

Hence, due to intensified emotion, one gets drawn towards goals and dreams.

It creates a strong desire.

This desire pushes us towards our goals and dreams.

Affirmations are transformative. The science behind them is simply a constant stream of messages that the subconscious eventually begins to own/believe.

Unfortunately, many people who try affirmations don’t try them long enough and become discouraged when they don’t ‘notice’ any changes.

The thing is, changes are slowly occurring. Planting seeds… changes don’t happen over night however…

When you affirm “I am” you are telling your subconscious mind a powerful phrase that it will adhere to.

“I am happy.”

“I am exactly where I need to be right now.”

“I am always being guided on the right path”

“I am financially independent.”

“I am in a constant state of bliss.”

“I am successful in all I do.”

“I am … you fill in the blank.

And the reason people don’t see instant changes in their life experiences is because they don’t affirm often enough. Affirmations need to get through to the inner mind. Affirming in your mind, out loud, throughout the day is the way to see your desired manifested changes.

The most effective way I’ve found for affirmations to penetrate the subconscious is to record yourself affirming what you desire and then playing back those affirmations as you drive, walk, run, commute, or sleep.

Your subconscious hears its own voice; your voice and adheres more readily to it than it does to a strangers voice that also reflects a different accent.

If It’s a stranger’s voice. The words still penetrate but it takes way longer for your subconscious mind to accept them as truth.

Use your own voice. Affirm three or more times a day and continue to do so until you see the changes you want to manifest in your life experience.

Never give up. That road is often the road less travelled when you do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. Tune in to your intuition and let your higher self guide you on your journey, always being grateful along the way. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
